Wayne A. McGregor, 81, of Barton City, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Born May 5, 1939 to Emery and Evelyn (Sanborn) McGregor in Barton City, MI, he was raised there. On November 30, 1963, he married Linda A. Smith in Pontiac. They were residents of Grand Blanc. Wayne served as a union committee man and skilled trades millwright while working at General Motors Fisher Body Plant #1 in Flint, MI, and retired from AC Delco when the factory closed. Wayne loved baseball, and formed the original Barton City baseball team, winning a state championship. He was baseball player, coach, score keeper, umpire, and participated in the traditional “pass the hat”. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and playing cards. Wayne was a member of the Barton City Eagles Club Aerie 4141. He is survived by his daughter, Julia (William) Boland, two sons, Joseph (Cheryl) McGregor and Wayne (Jane Strudgeon) McGregor, seven grandchildren, Justin (Rachael) Boland, Meghan Boland, Jessica (Jake) McGregor Gabbert, Allison McGregor, Jack Strudgeon, Brookelyn Strudgeon, and Trevor (Brittany) Woodruff, three great grandchildren, Lulu Boland, and Lily and Aurora Woodruff, his fiancée Joe Ann Wilson Angel, five sisters, Violet Bethuy, Helen Indish, Jodie (Tony) Phelps, Anita “Kitt” (Larry) King, and Loretta (Dick) Kowalski, and two brothers, Freeman Scott “Joe” McGregor and Burton (Mary) McGregor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda on December 25, 2017, and his infant son Charles McGregor on June 22, 1979. Graveside services will be Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Barton City. Arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
