Verda M. Ward, 81, of Mikado, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022 at her home. Born March 8, 1940 to William E. and Marion A. McGuire Fowler in Harrisville, MI she was raised there. On June 8, 1957, she married Irven P. Ward in Killmaster. They were residents of Flint. Verda worked as Flint Plastics and owned and operated Verda’s Cleaning Service. She retired to Mikado in 1983. She was a member of Solid Rock Church of God in Harrisville, where she played the organ for many years, and was a member of the Ladies Group. She enjoyed fishing and playing cornhole. Verda is survived by two sons, Ricky J. and Irven James (Lisa Sands) Ward, three grandchildren, Sheli Galloway, Ricky Ward Jr., and Aaron Ward, two great grandchildren, Willow Ward and Alleyson Galloway, her sister Gertie (Melvin) Ward, and her sister-in-law, Ruth Ward. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Genevieve Perkins, June Sayan, and Ruthie Greves, and four brothers, Norm, Dave, Milford, and William Fowler. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. A memorial celebration will be announced in the summer.
