Velma M. Myers

Velma Mary Jean (Scott) Myers, 87, of Barton City MI died on March 18th, 2023. She was born in Detroit MI to Joseph and Pearl (Jeffries) Scott on July 23rd, 1935. On June 9th, 1956 she married Franklin Myers in Detroit. They moved to Barton City in 1969, and bought Paradise Cottages resort. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lincoln. Throughout her life Velma held many jobs. She was a Teacher’s Aide for Head Start, Activity Director at Lincoln Haven, and a Hospice Volunteer. She also proudly served on the Alcona Community School Board for two terms in the 1980’s. Velma is survived by her children Tom (Dorty) Myers, Garden City MI, Floyd (Debra) Myers, Rapid City, SD, Denise Devers, Barton City, and Keith (Joan) Myers, Barton City. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Franklin in 2015 and a son, John 1968. She was also preceded by all of her siblings, three brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 11:00 AM until the memorial service at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Lincoln. Dr. Rev. Arie Van Brenk will officiate.
