Roger Dale Jamieson, age 85, stepped into eternity ready to meet Jesus Christ, his beloved Lord and Savior. He would urge you to be ready also – on the day of your crossing or Jesus’ coming in the clouds. At 3:46 p.m. on Aug. 13, 2021, surrounded by family, he went peacefully home after an 11-day battle for life in the hospital. Born (1935) and raised in Detroit, Roger graduated in 1954 from Oscoda High School after his parents moved north. He entered service in the Army’s 3rd Armored Division from 1955 to 1957. He was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church of Mikado. He served there as clerk, trustee, with the jail ministry, and many years as a Junior Astronaut leader for the kids. He held jobs at Chevrolet in Bay City, Alcona Seed Growers, and the last 30 years as Harrisville Township Clerk – “between milking the cows and slopping the pigs.” He didn’t have any hobbies, but his passions were deer hunting, WWII history, and being a grandpa for his grandchildren he thought the world of. And he loved the land that God gave him to be a steward over; he considered his 200 acres his own little Lost Lake Woods Club for his family. He loved animals and had many domestic pets as well as unique “wild pets” such as bald eagles, a crow named Blackie that smoked cigarettes, a fawn, and a pheasant. He taught his grandchildren a deep respect for God’s creatures and told each one how to handle a firearm, “Take a deep breath, let out, then squeeze. . . you have to open your eyes.” As an energetic and loving grandpa, he and his wife always kept the freezer full of ice cream, hosted pizza and movie night weekly, and set off fireworks for the 4th. He had even purchased fireworks for the wedding held on the same day he passed. Surviving are his wife, Joyce (Plew) Jamieson of 55 years. Children are Andrew Jamieson and Kenda (Jamieson, Clore) Leonard. From oldest to youngest, his grandchildren are Lisa (Clore) Kelly, Eric Clore, Kaylie (Jamieson) Landrum, Connor and Carson Jamieson, Timothy, Danica, Josiah, Karissa, and Ezra Jamieson. Great-grandchildren are Milo and Elodie Clore, Kade, Mairyn Beth, and Baby Landrum, and Graham Daniel Jamieson. His sister is Janice (Jamieson) MacNeill. He was preceded in death by his brother Duane (2003), and son Daniel (2011). Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Gillies in Lincoln. Visitation will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist of Mikado. A celebration of life at service will be held at 10:30 a.m. with a graveside service to follow at Springport Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church or Gideons International.
