Rita A. Crampton, 81 of Harrisville, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Mid Michigan Medical Center in Alpena. She was born October 12, 1938 to Nicholas and Margaret Colangelo in Flint, Michigan. Rita attended comptometer school in Flint, before working in defense accounting at AC Spark Plug. While working as a payroll clerk at Anchor Motor Freight, she met Lonnie Crampton and they married on August 18, 1961 in Clio, Michigan. They enjoyed raising two sons Jeffrey and Charles, participating in their school and sports activities while living in Flint until 1974 and Flushing until 1996. Rita and Lonnie moved to Harrisville for their retirement years, the highlight of which was a trip to Alaska to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary which she documented with a humorous log. Rita was a fastidious homemaker and never missed having a meal on the table for the men in her life. She was especially adept at preparing robust meals for holiday family gatherings, always making sure there were scraps for the family pets or treats for the neighbor’s dogs. To honor her love of animals, the family has suggested the Alcona Humane Society for any donations. She is survived by her husband, Lonnie, sons Jeff (Brenda) Crampton of Linden and Chuck (Theresa) Crampton of Petoskey, five grandchildren; Emily of Phoenix Arizona, Hannah of Atlantic Mine, Michigan, Thomas of Petoskey, Ian of Linden and Heather of Linden, Sisters-in-Law Patricia Colangelo of Fenton and Janet (Richard) Swift of Davison, a cousin Diane Muir of Santa Monica, California and many nieces and nephews.
