Richard D. Stemen Jr.

Richard “Rick” D. Stemen Jr., 69, of Mikado, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at his home. Born October 14, 1953, to Richard D. and Wilma J. (Adams) Stemen Sr. in Perrysburg, Ohio. Rick was a paperboy for the Toledo Blade as a young boy. At the age of 14, he had his first tree climbing job. He graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1971, where he played football and wrestled. Rick worked as a Tree Arborist for many years. He climbed and trimmed trees in Perrysburg, Ohio, and Northeastern Michigan, as well as at Arlington National Cemetery. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, cross county skiing, camping, and working in his garden. He was active in the American Youth Soccer Organization as a coach, referee, and board member. Rick is survived by his wife, Linda, three children, Amanda Stemen (Nathan Fetzer) of Inglewood, CA, Laqueta Stemen of Ypsilanti, MI, and Chad (Jessica) Stemen of Haslett, MI, two granddaughters, Luna and Stella Stemen, his sister, Victoria (Les) Sachau, three brothers, James (Sharon), Michael (Carmen), and Terry (Julie) Stemen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Maria Hall, next to St. Anne Catholic Church in Harrisville. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorial donations are encouraged to Alcona Schools Orchard, or to the environmental charity of your choice.
