Richard “Dick” A. Karsen Sr., 87, of Alpena, formerly of Lincoln, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024, at Medilodge of Alpena.

Born November 10, 1937, to George and Eliza (Becker) Karsen in Harrisville, he was raised in Mikado and was a longtime resident of Lincoln. Dick served in the United States Air Force. On May 26, 1956, he married Mary Hart (Karsen) in Lincoln, and they were married 29 years. He owned and operated Karsen Sunoco, and Karsen Gulf, later becoming Karsen Oil Company where he also sold snowmobiles and ran a towing service. He loved working on the farm, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. He was an avid woodworker, and proudly built his home, and helped many others work on their homes. He was a former member of the Village of Lincoln Council, a volunteer firefighter and coroner, a volunteer with the Lincoln Lions, a former Alcona County Commissioner, Alcona Road Commissioner, and former Chairman of the Huron Pines Resource Conservation and Development Council. Dick was an active member of the Community of Christ Church in Mikado. He was a devoted minister and truly loved serving his spiritual community. On June 12, 1999, he married Ann Randle in Mikado. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2018.

 Dick is survived by four children, Richard (Lisa) Karsen Jr., Sandy Karsen, Judy (Bob) Cordes, and John (David) Karsen, three stepchildren, Michelle Rayner, Kristina (Nathanael) Leeseberg, and Michael (Mehrzad) Rayner, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, two brothers, Ronald and Frank Karsen, his sister-in-law, Marge, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Billy Travis, his sister, Betty Belt, and his brother, Robert Karsen. 

 Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
