Preston E. Furister Jr., 87 of Hubbard Lake, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020 at his home. Born April 16, 1933 to Preston Sr. and Arletta (Lawler) Furister in Rudyard, MI, he was raised in East Detroit. He was a longtime resident of New Baltimore. He worked as a lineman at Michigan Bell for 32 years. In 1986 he moved to Lincoln, and in 1990 he moved to Greenbush. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Spruce and the Alcona Lodge #292 F. & A. M. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and camping. Preston is survived by four children, Daniel E. Furister, Diane (Paul) Ruegsegger, Karen (John) Maricak, and Dale R. (Beth) Furister, seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great grandson, one sister Cheryl Whittmore and one brother William Furister. He was preceded in death by his first wife, and mother of his children, Myrna (Michaud) Furister on October 1, 1983, his second wife, Mary (Messacabagge) Furister in 1990, and his third wife Ethel (Olah) Furister on October 29, 2011, his sister Betty Maxwell, and his brother, Fred Furister. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
