Nona L. Trigger, 93, of Hubbard Lake, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Besser Senior Living in Alpena. Born July 12, 1930, to Benjamin A. and Gladys A. (Meinzinger) Lamerand in Dearborn, MI, she was raised there. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1948. On August 6, 1949, she married Richard Anderson in Canton Twp. They were residents of Plymouth. Nona worked as a secretary for Plymouth Schools for 12 years. She moved to Spruce in 1970, where she worked as a clerk for the Spruce Post Office, and eventually became Postmaster. She retired prior to her husband’s death in 1992. On December 29, 2001, she married Earl Trigger in Spruce. Nona loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crochet, especially dishcloths. She was a very social woman, known for her style and love of life. Nona is survived by three daughters, Chris Vadnais, Lenore Blanton, and Kathy (Kim) Leaym, four grandchildren, Kimberly (Mike) McDade, Sam Blanton, Jessica (Nick) Myers, and Nicole Leaym, four great grandchildren, Lily McDade, and Benjamin, Faith, and Liam Myers, and two sisters, Janet Spencer and Cindy (Dick) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard on December 26, 1992, her husband Earl on November 28, 2014, two sons-in-law, Al Vadnais and Sanford “Walt” Blanton, and her brother Ronald Lamerand. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until the service at 1:00 PM at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln. In lieu of flowers Nona’s family suggests you plant a tree in her honor or make a donation to the Alcona Humane Society.
