Merle G. Good, 82, of Boyne City, formerly of Gustin Twp., passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 at his home. Born October 31, 1937 to Russell and Eva (Procunier) Good in Gustin Township, he was raised there. Merle worked at Ford Motor Company as a Tug Driver. On September 24, 1960, he married Arlene Johnson, and they were residents of Livonia. Merle retired from Ford in 1989, and they moved to Gustin Township in September 1992. Merle was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Barton City. He enjoyed hunting and golfing. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Livonia. In January 2018, he moved to Boyne City to be closer to his family. He was a member of the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Petoskey, and of the Boyne City Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Merle is survived by his wife, Arlene, two daughters, Betsy (John) Hicks of Charlevoix, and Nancy (Harold) Eklund of Charlevoix, seven grandchildren, Michael, Alan, and Megan Hicks, Tina Carpenter, and Harold Eklund Jr., Danielle Gunderson, and Erik Eklund, seven great grandchildren, Wyatt, Tyler, Gunnar, and Jax Hicks, and Whitney, Brandon, and Nathan Eklund, and his brother Arthur (Evelyn) Good of Lincoln. Mr. Good is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Rev. Christina Bright will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Barton City in the spring. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Michigan, Gaylord or to Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Petoskey.
