Mae Weeks

Mae B. Weeks, 101, of Lincoln, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at her home.   Born March 2, 1918 to Jesse and Magdelina (Reiter) Herod in Vinita Oklahoma, she was raised on the family farm in Oklahoma. Mae worked hard all of her life, starting as a butter wrapper in high school. She married Berryhill Weeks in Ponca City, OK in 1943, and moved to California. During WWII, Mae worked as a supervisor at the Defense Plant. She and Berryhill returned to Oklahoma where they owned and operated a restaurant. They moved to Lincoln in 1960. Mae was the head cook at Alcona High School. She was well known for her large garden adorned with the sculptures she welded herself. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and knitting.   Mae is survived by two daughters, Bev (Dan) Slayden of Lincoln and Debra (Jack) Oyler of Jackson, one son, Wayne Berry (Kristy) Weeks of Lincoln, four grandchildren, Catalina (Adam) Wilmers, Mae Oyler, Natalie Windsor, and Travis Agosa, three great grandchildren, Calder Wilmers and Ryan and Jacob Windsor, one sister, Jesse Fowler of Ponca City, OK, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, and four siblings, Leora Reynolds, and Larry, Oliver and Tommy Herod.   Mrs. Weeks is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may call on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM, when the procession will begin to Mt.
