Madeline June Bedward, 90, of Mikado, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at her home.
Born April 4, 1934 to Herman and June Bothe in New York, New York, she was raised there. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Brooklyn, New York. In 1968, she married Dale Bedward in Clovis, New Mexico. They moved to the Mikado area in 1971. Madeline worked as a civil servant at Wurtsmith Air Force Base, becoming the first woman GS-13 on a SAC (Strategic Air Command) base. She was an active member of the Greenbush Community Baptist Church. Madeline was a member of the Red Hat Society, and of the Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed crochet, and traveling with Dale in their RV.
Madeline is survived by two daughters, Kristine Flynn (Dwayne) Meeker, and Robin (Barry) McNeill, seven grandchildren, Abraham Underkofler, Rebekah Schmidt, Joshua Meeker, Leonard McNeill, ENS Rowan McNeill, Michael Thomas, and James Bedward II, and four great grandchildren, Michael Fitzgerald, Kaitlyn Tompos, Eleanor Thomas, and Gwenevere Bedward. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, on April 18, 2009, and by her son James Bedward in 2013.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Greenbush Community Baptist Church. Pastor A.C. Caincross will officiate. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alcona Humane Society.
