Lawrence Lee Spare

Lawrence “Larry” Lee Spare was a caring husband, father, Papa, brother, and friend. He passed away in his home on August 5, 2022 after a short battle of pancreatic cancer at age 64. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. He was born to Harold and Charlotte Spare on May 14, 1958 in Howell, Michigan, but he was raised in Toledo, OH. He was the youngest of 6 children. After graduating from high school, Larry chased his dreams to study Fishery Biology where he met the love of his life, Linda (Johnson) Spare. Together, they had 2 children, Jason and Derek. Larry loved northern Michigan and settled down in Harrisville where he enjoyed many years of being a track & basketball coach, helping his lovely wife run a cleaning business, and host several get togethers at his home. He was often behind the grill and told stories that brought a smile to everyone. He never missed a chance to spend time with his 6 grandchildren and loved life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife, Linda, their son, Jason (Kimberly) Spare of Eau Claire, Mi, their son, Derek (Alyssa) of Portland, Oregon , and six grandchildren, Samantha, Kaden. Emmalynn, Easton, Susanna and Brooklyn. He is also survived by His brother Nick, sisters Pat and Nancy, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends. A private burial will take place at Twin Lakes cemetery with close family. There will be an open house celebration of life at the Spare residence on Saturday, August 13 starting at 2pm to share memories of Larry. A light meal will be served and guests may bring a dessert to pass.
