Joseph P. Murray

Joseph P. Murray, 73, of Harrisville, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024 at his home. Born October 22, 1950, to Fred and Bertha (Jorsz) Murray in Connecticut, he was raised there. Joe served in the United States Air Force, and retired in 1990 as a Senior Master Sergeant. On December 24, 2016, he married Mary Teja Liljestrand in Tucson, Arizona were they resided until moving to Harrisville in 2022. Joe attended the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln, and the Greenbush Community Baptist Church. He was a member of the Oscoda VFW. Joe loved life, and had an affinity for history, and enjoyed attending museums and watching war movies. Joseph is survived by his wife, Mary Teja, his son, Kevin (Richelle) Murray, two granddaughters, Jasmine Coty-Murray and Aria Penvleton, five step-children, Peter Penvleton, Benjamin Penvleton, Elisabeth Rockwell, Daniel Claborn, and Sarah Claborn, and his brother, Fred Murray. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister. There will be a memorial service Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Greenbush Community Baptist Church, 2430 State Street, Greenbush, MI 48738. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
