John P. Didur, (90), of Oscoda, Michigan, passed away on January 14, 2025.
John was born to John and Pauline Didur, on May 18 1934, in Detroit, Michigan. He was an avid gardener who could spend hour upon hour in his gardens. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, as well as raised and trained German Short Hair Pointers for many years. After high school graduation, John joined the Navy in 1952 and served his country in honor as a PN2 for 4 years during the Korean War.
Throughout his life John was actively involved with the American Legion, Post 1 in Warren, MI, VFW-Bruce Post 1146 in St. Clair Shores, MI, the Polish American Legion Post 165 in Warren, MI and the American Legion Aerie 4237 in Oscoda, MI.
John’s loving spirit is carried on by his children, Denise, John (Rita), Frances (Gary) and James (Shelly), along with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding him in peace were his parents, John and Pauline, his brother Steven, his sister Maryann and his wives Carol, Judy and Janet.
John is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where visitation will be Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Pastor Wayne Whitten will officiate. Burial will be Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
