John Leo Dault

John Leo Dault, 91, of Bay City, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022. John was known as “Lee” to his friends and family. He was born April 25, 1930, to Charles W. and Helen M. (Andres) Dault in Alpena. At the age of 16 John began his career as a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes freighters. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard on the Great Lakes and the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Korea and Japan. On October 10, 1953, he married Gloria Mallory in Harrisville. They were residents of Bay City. John worked for Aetna Cement in Essexville and retired after 43 years as chief electrician. He enjoyed overhauling and building things. He also enjoyed the outdoors, boating, fishing, gardening, planting trees, and spending time with his family. John is survived by three children, Sherrie Ankner, Juanita (Edwin) Smith, and Mark (Brenda) Dault, grandchildren, Aaron, Adam, (Sarah), Austin (Vanessa), and Alex Ankner, Kevin (Diana) Smith, Bronson (Rebekah), Jonathan (Rochelle), Brooklyn, and Jordan (Lilli) Dault, great grandchildren Grace VonFange, Paul, Damien, Cecilia, Matthew, Nadaleigh, Emily, Alana, and Joseph Ankner, Emily, Kaitlyn, and Abigail Smith, Adelina Estep-Maher, Hudson Smith, Milo and Ezra Dault, and Carson Smith, and four brothers, Don, Bill, Roger, and Chuck Dault. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria on July 21, 2009, his grandson Andrew Ankner, and two sisters, Rosalie Muzzy and Mary Gleason. Funeral services will be held in the spring. Burial will be in Springport Cemetery, Harrisville. Arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
