Joell E. Krejcarek, 74, of Glennie, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2019 at her cabin in the woods. Born December 7, 1944 to Arnold and Mabel (Anderson) Johnson in Marquette, MI, she was raised in Carlshend, MI. Joell graduated from Northern Michigan University, and began working as a teacher at Alcona High School in 1966. She is credited with bringing girls sports to Alcona High, starting girls basketball, track, softball, and volleyball programs, as well as the Girls Athletic Association. Joell coached numerous girls throughout her 31 year career, teaching them valuable life lessons both on and off the court. Her work with area youth didn’t stop at the school. Joell was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church and was devoted to the Sunday School and Youth Group. She organized a bike program and lead the first bike group to cross the Mackinac Bridge. On February 22, 1986, she married Don Krejcarek in Carlshend, MI. They were residents of Harrisville before moving to their cabin in the Glennie woods. Joell was the on-site director for Sprinkler Lake Education Center for ten years, sharing her love for the out-of-doors with area school children. She was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. Joell was a dedicated supporter of the Chosen Ranch, and along with Don mentored several area youth, who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her husband Don, two daughters, Stephanie (Paul) Mancine and Swan Bryn Krejcarek, one granddaughter, Christina Jarema (Alex Kaplan), one grandson, Ryley Mancine, two brothers, Ardy Johnson and Dan (Kathy) Johnson, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Karen Wold. Visitation for Mrs. Krejcarek will be Thursday September 26, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisville from 11:00 until the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Rev. Eric Johnson will officiate.
