Jesus "Yogi" Yruegas

Jesus “Yogi” Yruegas, 75, of Mikado, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023 at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland. Born February 8, 1948 to Jesus and Victoria (Ramos) Yruegas in Eagle Pass, Texas, he was raised there. Yogi served in the U.S. Air Force and retired in 1986 at Wurtsmith Air Force Base. On June 10, 2009, he married Rita Sands in Mikado. Yogi served as Deputy Clerk for Mikado Township for five years, and eventually became Township Supervisor, a role he held for 15 years. He retired from the township in 2020. Yogi loved bowling and was a competitive dart thrower, throwing in the East West Championship in Las Vegas for nine years. He was a member of the Barton City VFW, and of the Oscoda American Legion. Yogi is survived by his wife, Rita Sands, his son, Joey Jesse Yruegas, his sister, Esmerelda Pargmann, his brother, Rolando Yruegas, as well as his extended family. Visitation will be Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will continue on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Rev. Char McGuire will officiate.
