Jeanette Colleen (Carriveau) Oliver

April 15, 1932 — July 5, 2018

Jeanette “Colleen” Oliver (Carriveau), age 86, of Spruce, MI passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Alpena, Michigan. She was born April 15, 1932 in the small town of Omer, Michigan to Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Eli and Mary Elizabeth (Mansfield) Rasmussen.   Colleen was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was known for her humility, kindness, generosity, and brilliant sense of humor. She was very proud of her family and was always enthusiastic about spending time with her children and grandchildren. Colleen loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to enjoy her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking, baking, and preparing for her company. Colleen was a member of Spruce Presbyterian Church. She will be missed greatly by all that knew and loved her.   Colleen is survived by her six children: Betty (Gary) Grandy, of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee; Roseanne (Don) Colley of Black River; Nancy (Allan) Steube of Alamosa, Colorado; Virginia Okinga of Sanford; Julie (Gil) Matthews of Spruce; John (Ann) Carriveau of Alpena; three siblings: Alice Maloney, Richard Rasmussen, and Warren (Charlotte) Rasmussen; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son George (Sarita) Carriveau and three siblings, Barb (Forrest) Gauthier, Anna Rasmussen, and Roddy (Mary “Debbie”) Rasmussen. Colleen is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may call on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 3:00 until 8:00 PM.  Visitation will continue Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 12:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM.  Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Spruce, with a reception to follow at the Spruce Presbyterian Church.    All are welcome to attend and celebrate Colleen's life. The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, kindness, and support as well as the staff at Mid-Michigan Medical Center for their outstanding care and compassion.
