James Jay Bentley, 58, of Hubbard Lake, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024 after a long, courageous battle with MS surrounded by his friends and family.
Born July 20, 1965 to James J. and Anita Gail (Boisseau) Bentley in Highland Park, MI, he was raised in Royal Oak. He attended George A. Dondero High School in Royal Oak. Jim played baseball as a youth. He worked as a carpenter and a roofer. He spent the last 25 years in Alcona County. Jim enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Tigers, hunting and fishing. A talented artist, he loved to sketch and paint.
Jim is survived by his son Brandon (Becky), grandchildren, Isabella and Myera, stepchildren, Mckenzie, Mckayla, Taylor, and Nathen, his mother, Anita, and his siblings, Diana Lyn (Joseph), Brian Lee, and his stepbrother Robert Joseph, his nieces, Kristen, Kelly, and Brooke, his nephews, Michael and Daniel, several aunts and uncles, and his former wife and dear friend, Monique. Jim’s family wishes to acknowledge with great appreciation and love, his longtime friends and caregivers, Mike and Kayla and family, and Allen and Monica.
He was preceded in death by his father, James J. Bentley, and his brother, Michael Lee.
Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
