James E. Barth, 59, of Harrisville, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018 at his home. Born October 5, 1958 to Donald E. and Joan (Guenther) Barth in Ann Arbor, he was raised in Manchester, MI. On January 7, 1978, he married Debra Dettling at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. In 1985 they moved to Black River. Jim owned and operated Elite Industries in Spruce. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as golfing and gardening. Jim was known for his unmatched work ethic, he had a natural talent for engineering, and was often tinkering or building something. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Harrisville. He is survived by his wife Debra, his daughter Jessica (Brandon) Steffel of Gaylord, his son, Don (April) Barth of Harrisville, five grandchildren, Lily, Samuel, Leanna, and Lauren Barth and Timothy Steffel, his sister Lori (Brian) Heldt of Alpena, his step father Leon Trinkle of Ann Arbor, his brother-in-law, Ron Carper, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Cherie Carper. Mr. Barth is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may call on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a parish prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue Thursday, August 2, 2018 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Harrisville from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral mass at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Robert Bissot will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery, Harrisville.
