Geneva A. Townsend

Geneva A. Townsend, 85, of Harrisville, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 at her home.   Born January 27, 1934 to Ed and Ruthie (Holley) Allen in Quitman AR, she was raised there. Geneva worked for General Motors in Flint. On September 18, 1976, she married John W. Townsend in Swartz Creek. They were longtime residents of Flint, and later Swartz Creek, retiring to Harrisville in 1987. Geneva attended Calvary Baptist Church in Mikado. She enjoyed quilting, crochet, and puzzles.   Geneva is survived by her husband John, five children, Erven Johnston, Darrell (Michelle) Johnston, Danny (Laura) Johnston, Keith (Sandra) Townsend, and Ruth (Dan) Wright, two stepchildren, Andrew (Laura) Townsend, and Carmen (Jim) Merrell, 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two sisters, Christine Kelly and Reva Sweeney and three brothers, Alton, Melvin and Cecil Allen. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, and siblings, Shelvie Allen, Carl Allen, Letha Nelson, Myrtle Davis, Ovie Rooney and J.D. Allen.   Mrs. Townsend is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Rev. Tim Steiner will officiate.
