Gena Yockey

Gena Yockey, 64, of Hubbard Lake, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023 at her home.

Born April 26, 1959 to Jim and Betty Yockey in Alpena, she was raised there.  Gena worked in the office at her family’s company, Yockey Construction.  Her love of animals led her to be one of the first people to work at the Alcona Humane Society.  She was a longtime employee of Alcona County, starting in the Friend of the Court office, and moving to become the County’s Public Guardian.  She was an avid equestrian, and loved riding horses.  She enjoyed the outdoors, and spent countless hours in her kayak.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.  

Gena is survived by her son, Nathan (Emily) Gauthier of Lincoln, two grandchildren, and two sisters, Karen Plecker and Sal Yockey.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kecia Gauthier on July 22, 2010, and two siblings, Chris and Jano Yockey.  

Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
