Eugene L. Stout, 93, of Barton City, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Mclaren Flint with his family by his side.
Born October 6, 1930 to Carl F. and Martha (McGregor) Stout in Barton City, where he lived all of his life. He served two years in the U.S. Army. Eugene came home and married the love of his life Velma J. Katona on December 19, 1953 in Barton City. They had one daughter, Patricia. Eugene enjoyed his life to the fullest he could. He worked for the Alcona County Road Commission for 41 years, starting as a street sweeper, working up to foreman. His love was the heavy equipment. Gene was a charter member of the Barton City Eagles Aerie 4141. He very much enjoyed the outdoors, taking his beloved dogs to the woods to hear them barking while chasing rabbits. He loved hunting and fishing with family, and most of all watching the animals in his front yard. He was always there to help others in the community, on the road, and tinkering in his barn. After he retired in 1994, Gene enjoyed family camping and his luck at the casinos.
He is survived by his daughter Patricia Baisch (Steve Tokar), special nephews, Ron Stout and Ron Stout Jr., many nieces and nephews, and his sister-in-law, JoAnn Katona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma on February 15, 2022, his son-in-law, Harold Baisch, his brother Elmer (Norma) Stout, and his brother-in-law, Jerry Katona. Eugene will be greatly missed.
Mr. Stout is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Saturday, June 15, from 3:00 PM until the funeral service at 4:00 PM. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery, Barton City. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alcona Humane Society.
