Emily C. Bejesky, 95, of Harrisville, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Alpena. Born July 16, 1924 to Frederick and Marie (Samyn) Katona in Glennie, MI, she was a lifelong resident of the area. Emily attended Central Michigan University, and was a teacher at the Bean Hill School and the Barton City Elementary School. On July 28, 1956, she married Anthony Bejesky in Harrisville. Emily was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church where she played the organ, directed the choir, served on the Ladies Auxiliary, and worked as the Director of Religious Education for 45 years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and her artwork, especially drawing. She is survived by three children, Kathy (Arnie) Gibson, Duane Bejesky, and Robert Bejesky, six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Sally Katona, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony on November 14, 1990, her daughter Lisa Hodgson, her sister, Mary Siebert-Moore, and two brothers, Arthur and Walter Katona. Mrs. Bejesky is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may call on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 10:00 AM until the funeral mass at 11:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church in Harrisville. Burial will be in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Anne Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 4235, or to Alpena Community College.
