Edward John Schroeder, age 92, of Harrisville, died on Saturday, July 25, 2020. He was born on August 14, 1927 in Saginaw, MI to the late Edward and Elsie (Hartlep) Schroeder. Edward graduated from Oscoda High School in 1946 and immediately entered WWII serving in Hokkaido, Japan. Edward married Reeta Ann Conklin on June 25, 1949 at Harrisville Methodist Church. Edward owned and operated the Conklin Standard Oil gas station until it was sold in 1968. During this time, he was a part time deputy for the Alcona Sheriff Department. In 1972 he became a full-time deputy. In 1980, he was elected Sheriff, serving three terms for Alcona County. Edward is survived by his wife, Reeta, three children, Lynn (Lucky) Kosto, Beth (David) Read, and Karl (Becky) Schroeder, four grandchildren, Jeremiah (Jennifer) Kosto, Nathan (Allison) Kosto, Erica (Mike) Wellman, and Danielle (Jeremy) LaFeldt, nine great grandchildren, Emma and Lillian Allen, Isabelle, Kaitlin, Mason, Ella, and Garrett Kosto, and Noah and Hazel LaFeldt, and one brother, Allen Schroeder. He was preceded in death by his great grandson, Derek Kosto. Graveside services will be Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Twin Lakes Cemetery in Lincoln.
