Edward James “Jim” Schoensee, 83, of Mikado, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023, at his home. Born October 1, 1939, to Clarence and Viola (Riley) Schoensee in Warren, MI, he was raised in Royal Oak. A hardworking outdoorsman, Jim owned and operated EJ Schoensee Landscaping and Snow Removal. On October 23, 1959, he married Kathleen McCartney in Royal Oak. They moved to Mikado in 2000. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion Mikado Post #254, and of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #4141 of Barton City. Jim is survived by his wife, Kathleen, two sons, Larry (Cindy) Schoensee of Flint, and Terry (Lisa) Schoensee of Texas, four grandchildren, Ryan (Ale), Shawna (Ryan) McCleskey, Brandon (Amanda), and Austen (Bre), five great grandchildren, and his sister, Marion Diem of Waterford. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clarence and Richard Schoensee. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Mikado Township Cemetery, followed by a meal at the Mikado American Legion at 12:00 PM.
