Edmond Paul Ranke

April 16, 1985 — August 21, 2023

Edmond Paul Ranke, 38, of Harrisville, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023, at his home. Eddie was born on April 16, 1985, to LuAnn Ranke in Alpena, MI. He was raised in Hale and spent most of his early adult life there helping to raise his little brother and making memories with his childhood friends. He moved to Arizona in 2017 and received his Commercial Driver License. This allowed him to start his dream job of being an over the road truck driver. In 2020 after beating his first round of Acute Myeloid Leukemia, and declaring remission, he moved back to Michigan to be close to his Mom and Grandma, but continued to drive over the road, he loved driving the West Coast the most, with its beauty and danger. Ed loved to be doing everything, always moving, and doing, being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and working in his garden were his favorites. He was also a skilled mechanic and was able to fix almost anything, often out of necessity after tearing it apart. You could always find Ed with a friend talking about anything and helping with everything. He loved to hear stories, and he loved to help people. His personality was larger than life and could always be counted on for his wit and sarcasm, something that he made sure was always on display, especially when hanging out with his nephews. Eddie is survived by his mother, LuAnn Ali, his son, E.J. Smith, his sister, Alisha (Justin) Tarrance, his brother Kevin (Alexis) Ranke, his grandmother, Rhoda Ranke, three nephews, Justin Tarrance Jr., Jaydin Tarrance, and Grayson Ranke, three aunts, Joyce Ranke, Audrey (Ron) Eitel, and Julie (Troy) LeCuyer, his uncle, Paul Ranke, as well as numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Reuben Ranke, and his uncle Edmond George Eisenhauer. Friends and Family will gather at the home of Rhoda Ranke for a Celebration of Life, on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you consider a donation to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Societies Light the Night Event, https://pages.lls.org/ltn/gr/GrdRapid23/atarrance, or to Friends Together, in Alpena, https://www.friendstogethermi.org Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
