Douglas A. Middleton, 72, of Glennie, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, at Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw with his loved ones by his side. Born May 11, 1949, to Braught and Margaret (Simo) Middleton in Omer, MI, he was raised in Glennie. Doug served in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam War. He earned two Bronze Service Stars, a Bronze Star Medal, and was awarded a Purple Heart. He worked for General Motors in Flint and retired to Glennie. He loved classic cars and attending car show. He enjoyed NASCAR races. Doug is survived by his children Carrie Middleton, and Jake and Jennifer Petty, his grandchildren, Hailey (Dresden) Parkinson, Sydney Petty, and Charley Petty, and two great granddaughters, Evelyn and Ivy Parkinson, as well as numerous cousins including, Sherry (Edward) Kohl, Lydia Bittner, Debbie (Dan) Short, Fredrick (Alicia) Middleton, Gerogie Middleton, Janell Kerr, James (Celynn) Middleton, Barbie McMinn, and Jimmy (Dianne) Simo. Visitation will be Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will continue Friday, January 7, 2022, from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Glennie Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alcona Humane Society.
