David D. Somers

David Dale Somers, 71, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2025 in the presence of his loving wife and four children.

Born on April 23, 1953 to Russell and Dorothy (Cable) Somers in Harrisville, he has been a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Alcona High School in 1971. In his early years, he enjoyed working for D&M Railroad, and later transitioned to working for Alcona Motors driving cars. 

David married Amy on August 25, 1979 in Lincoln, MI. They had four children, whom he always said were his four greatest accomplishments. David was very active in coaching youth sports, and following his kids around the state to cheer them on in all of their athletics. David loved baseball, and played for the Barton City team in the County Men’s League. He was an excellent bowler, and was the first person to bowl a perfect game in Harrisville. David lived and breathed Maize and Blue. 

David is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Amy, his four children, Paul (Colleen) Somers, Ashley (Thomas) Morgan, Elizabeth (Michael) Goddard, and Daniel (Emily) Somers, ten grandchildren, Baylee Goddard, Sawyer Somers, Jaxon Morgan, Grady Goddard, Jordyn Somers, Braxton Goddard, Macy Somers, Blake Somers, Hudson Somers, and Madyson Somers, and his two sisters, Darlene Grace and Delynn (Alan) Robb. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Wayne and Dennis Somers. 

Visitation will be Monday, February 17, 2025 from 1:00 PM until the Memorial Service at 3:00 PM at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln.
