Charles G. McLaughlin, 82, of Harrisville passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at his home. Born August 20, 1935 to Charles E. and Eileen A. (Schell) McLaughlin in Clawson, MI, he was raised in Detroit and Berkely, MI. Chuck served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Local 25 Heat and Frost Insulators. On June 18, 1976, he married the former Clairellen Collom in Royal Oak. They were residents of Royal Oak and Rochester Hills before moving to Harrisville. Chuck was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda, and a former member of the Harrisville Lions Club. He was active with the Alcona Humane Society and designed their current building. He enjoyed cooking and was an avid woodworker. Chuck is survived by his wife Clairellen, five children, Kathleen (Fred Degasperin) McLaughlin, of Warren MI, Patricia Madding of Lapeer, MI, David (Rose) McLaughlin of Ray Township, MI, Karen Wendland of Grand Rapids, MI, and Mark McLaughlin of Royal Oak, MI, four step-children, John (Cindy) Carrico of Ellicott City, MD, Timothy (Valerie) Carrico of Stratham NH, Kevin Carrico of Royal Oak, MI , and Laura (Rob Zaloga) Carrico of Sylvan Lake, MI, 22 grandchildren, Sheila, Jenny, Rachael, Erin, Christie, Stephanie, Kyle, Danielle, Sarah, Joshua, Emma, Alex, J.P., Caitlyn, Jesse, Sasha, Blake, Britta, Lauren, Austin, Delaney, and Tyler, one great granddaughter, and his loyal companions, Daisy and Pumpkin. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Dennis McLaughlin in 2013. Memorial donations may be made to the Alcona Humane Society or to Hospice of Michigan. There will be a memorial service Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda. Visitation will begin at 10:00.
