Carol A. Hansen

Carol Ann Hansen, 78 of Spruce, passed away July 4, 2021. She was born December 26, 1942, to the late Joe and Helen (Chauvin) Carriveau, also of Spruce. Carol spent her life, as an active member of this community. Working tirelessly for numerous organizations. She was a lifelong member of Spruce Lutheran Church and the Spruce VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Carol was best known as the head cook and dietitian at Alcona High School. Her passion was caring for the children of Alcona County. Making certain each child had at least one healthy meal every school day. Carol worked for Alcona Community Schools for 32 years. She was an avid lover of birds, receiving the nickname “Birdie” from her husband and played short stop for many years, with the Spruce Sparklers. Carol is survived by two sons Mark (Jennifer) Hansen, and Nelson Hansen, three grandchildren, Kelsey, Nelson Conner and Tyler Hansen. She had 16 brothers and sisters. 12 preceding her in death, with 3 surviving brothers and 2 sisters all living in Northeast Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank of 46 years. Visitation will be held at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln on Thursday July 8, from 1-3pm and 5-7pm. Services will be held at Gillies on Friday July 9, at 11am. Interment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Spruce with a luncheon to follow at the Caledonia Township Hall. Memorials can be made in Carol’s honor to, Alcona High School Girls Basketball.
