Carl R. Cordes, 59, of Barton City, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born December 2, 1960 in Puerto Rico. Carl graduated from Alcona High School in 1979, and was a lifelong resident of Barton City. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Barton City. He operated a lawn care service, and loved the time he spent on his lawn mower, helping people in his community. Carl was an avid outdoorsman, and liked hunting. He was happiest watching his kids compete in racing and bump and runs. Carl is survived by his wife Georgetta, his mother, Florence (Green) Cordes, three sons, Carl (Ashley) Cordes of Mio, Danny ( Jacqui Fuhst) Cordes of Alpena, and Mike (Brandy Shiner) Cordes, his daughter, Stephanie Fry of Mio, two grandchildren, Ava and Jaylin Cordes and his former daughter in law, Nikki Cordes. He was preceded in death by his father, George Cordes, his brother, James Cordes, and his Aunt Marion Martin. Carl is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may call from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, October 16, 2020. Funeral Services will be at the funeral home on Saturday October 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM Rev. Christina Bright will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Barton City.
