Blanche Hechlik, 99, of Greenbush, passed away Wednesday May 9, 2018 at Lincoln Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. Born April 22, 1919 to Walter and Agnes (Juszczyk) Jedrzykiewicz in Buffalo, NY, she was raised in Hamtramck. On April 27, 1940, she married Edward Hechlik in Hamtramck, where they resided until moving to Greenbush in 1947. Blanche and Ed built, owned, and operated the Greenbush Tavern. Blanche was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Harrisville, the Greenbush Historical Society and the Greenbush Chamber of Commerce. She was a devoted homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She is survived by her sons, Edward (Linda) Hechlik and Walter (Patricia) Hechlik, four grandchildren, Ed (Sarah) Hechlik, Susan Hechlik Kaderle, Matthew (Cassandra) Hechlik and Bobbi Jo (Cory) Bainbridge, and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 15, 1988, her first born grandchild, William Edward Hechlik, two sisters, Laura Rzempala and Tessie Krzeminski, and her brother Edward Jedrzykiewicz. Mrs. Hechlik is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may call on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 3:00 until 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00. Visitation will continue Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Harrisville from 10:00 AM until the funeral mass at 11:00 AM. Rev. Robert Bissot will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery, Harrisville. Memorial donations are suggested to the Greenbush Historical Society.
