Betty Lou Young

Betty L. Young, 82, of Harrisville, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Jamieson Nursing Home in Harrisville.    Born January 4, 1936 to Douglas and Irene (Apsey) Ritchie in Alcona County, MI, she was a lifelong resident of the area.  Betty worked as a secretary for the Alcona County Seed Growers, and served as a Trustee on the Harrisville Towhship board for many years.  She was an avid quilter, and enjoyed ceramics and woodworking.  She was well known in the area for her cake baking and decorating skills, and had made beautiful cakes for numerous events.    She is survived by two sons, David Young and Scott Young, two sisters, Clara Jean (Jerry) Yerman, and Shirley (Larry) Gerard, her brother-in-law, Tom Sharboneau, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two sisters,  Donna Anderson and Wanda Sharboneau.    Ms. Young is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where friends may call on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 1:00 PM.  Rev.
