Arthur Winter

Arthur Winter, 75, of Harrisville, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Alpena. Born October 11, 1944 to Carl and Carol (Smith) Winter in Detroit, MI, he was raised there. Art served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. On July 10, 1967, he married Sharon Fields in Detroit. They were residents of Detroit and Mt. Clemens before moving to the Harrisville area in 1982. Art owned and operated the Blue Haven Resort for 34 years. He served as Greenbush Township Clerk and Assistant Fire Chief and first responder. He was a member of the Ossineke Eagles Aerie 3762, the Oscoda V.F.W. post #3735, and the Mikado American Legion #254. Art worked for several years as the Alcona County Veterans Counsellor. Art is survived by his wife, Sharon, his daughter, Cherlyn Winter, his son, Matthew (Jennifer) Winter, and his granddaughter, Mia Winter. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Private services have been held. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
