Allen Silverthorn Jr.

Allen Silverthorn Jr., 97, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Lincoln Haven.

He was born July 16, 1926, and raised in Harrisville, MI, to Allen & Bernice (Baker) Silverthorn.

He served in WWII, in the Navy. He returned to Alcona County and worked for Alcona County Road Commission for 42 Years. He loved horses and was a member of the Iosco County Sheriff’s Posse for a few years. He was a member of Mikado Calvary Baptist Church for many years.

On June 12, 1954, he married is loving & caring wife, Bertha (Waldeck). They were married for 69 years. They had two beautiful children, Douglas & Ellen Marie (Sis).

After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two special grandsons, Allen and Dalton.

Allen is survived by his wife Bertha; his loving daughter & son-in- law, Ellen (Allen) VanDenBoom; special grandsons Allen (Courtney) VanDenBoom and Dalton VanDenBoom; Brother-in-law Jack Brittain; Sister-in-laws Yvonne Waldeck and Ann Silverthorn; And several nieces & nephews.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents; Special son Douglas; Brothers George & Glynn Silverthorn; Sister-in-laws Eunice (Goddard) Silverthorn and Pauline (Waldeck) Brittain; Brother-in-law Donald Waldeck.

Service to be at Calvary Baptist Church, Mikado, MI, Friday, November 3, 2023. Viewing from 10:00am-11:00am, service at 11:00am. Arrangements made by Gillies Funeral Home.
