Fred Dewar passed away Friday, February 16, 2007 at his home. He was a ‘very young’ 93 years old. Born on February 21, 1913 to John and Sarah Jane (Milligan) Dewar, in Gustin Township, he was a lifelong resident of Alcona County. On May 24, 1941, he married Dorothy Barber in Harrisville, they have been married over 65 years. Fred was a Jack of All Trades, working as a farmer and as a Custodian and Bus Driver for Alcona Community Schools in Harrisville. After he retired, Fred raised cattle, and enjoyed traveling and camping. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed gardening and playing cards. He was a hard worker, was always busy, and was never bored. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, daughter Joyce Bisanz, 4 grandchildren, Mike (Cindy) Dewar, Deann (Gary) Cummins, Mark Bisanz, and Julie (Chad) Kirby, seven grandchildren, Kearsten, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Alyssa, Mikayla, Alex, and Zachary. He was preceded in death by his son Donald on May 30, 2003, son in law Harold Bisanz on January 25, 2007, brother Hector, and sisters Alice Webb-Faulver, and Mary. Mr. Dewar is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Tuesday from 2 until 9 pm. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, at 11:00 am, at the funeral home, with Rev. David Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Twin Lakes Cemetery in the spring. Memorials suggested to Hospice of Michigan.
