Gordon M. Shovan, 84, of Harrisville, passed away January 19, 2007, at Jamieson Nursing Home in Harrisville. Born March 25, 1922 to Jerome and Gladys (Brabeau) Shovan in Algonac, he was raised in VanDyke (Warren) Michigan. On July 11, 1942, he married Verna Smith in VanDyke. Gordon was a supervisor at GE, Carboloy Division in Warren for 42 years. He served in the United Stated Air Force as a Service Fighter during World War II. In 1953, Gordon and Verna moved to Centerline, where they resided until moving to Harrisville in 1986. A member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and Lincoln Lions, Gordon was one of the original members of the Lake Trout Festival Committee. Gordon operated a charter fishing service out of Harrisville, “Reel-Fun II”. He also enjoyed hunting and woodcarving. Gordon is survived by his wife, Verna, daughter, Linda (Jim) Chambers of Warren, son, Randy of Bay City, and four grandsons, Derek, Jeremy, Jeffrey, and Nathan, and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother Gerald. Mr. Shovan is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Sunday from 4 until 8 pm. Funeral Services will be on Monday, at 4 pm, at the funeral home, Rev. Tom Welscott will officiate. Interment service will be in White Chapel Cemetery, on Wednesday, at 1pm with visitation beginning at 12:30 P.M.. Memorials suggested to the Alcona Humane Society.
