George F. Boelter

George F. Boelter Jr., of Spruce, passed away January 18, 2007, at Tendercare of Alpena. Born March 20, 1913 to George and Emily (Walther) Boelter Sr. in Manning, Iowa, he was raised there. In 1935, he moved to Saginaw, where he married Margaret Henning on June 12, 1937. A former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Saginaw, he served on the church council. George was a Process Engineer with Cooper Industries (formerly Lufkin Rule). In 1945 they moved to Zilwaukee where George was a member of the Zilwaukee Lions Club and the Zilwaukee School Board where he served as treasurer. In September, 1968, they moved to Cary, North Carolina, where they resided until moving to Spruce (Hubbard Lake) in March, 1973. George was a member of Spruce Lutheran Church, and of the Hubbard Lake Sportsman Club. George is survived by his wife, Margaret, two daughters; Lynn (Robert) Bohnsack of Zilwaukee, and Sue (Dale) Ludwig, of Clarkston, two sons; Robert (Barbara) Boelter of Spruce, and Thomas (Alicia) Boelter of Swartz Creek, 10 grandchildren, Kevin, Lori, David, Kelly, Carrie, Lindsay, Brian, Julie, Kim, and Tim, and 17 great grandchildren, and two sisters; Marguerite Bruhl of Wheaton Ill, and Phyllis Hickman of Omaha Neb. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, one brother, Paul, and by one sister, Emily Blankenship. Mr. Boelter is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Sunday from 2 until 6 pm. Visitation continues on Monday, at Spruce Lutheran Church at 11 am, until the Funeral Service at 1 pm. Rev. Laraine Sundin will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in the spring.
