Donald T. Carson, 82, of Barton City, passed away December 28, 2006 at his home. Born on April 5, 1924, to Thomas and Lillian (Grandon) Carson in Mannington, West Virginia. He was raised in Oil City, and in Essexville, attending school in Bay City. Donald was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the Philippines, and in the South Pacific, and received a Purple Heart. Donald was a skilled carpenter, employed by Consolidated Construction. He was the Building Inspector and the Zoning Chairman for Monitor Township. He married Rosaline Skrzysinski, on June 24, 1976 in Midland. They were residents of Auburn, moving to Barton City in 1989. Donald was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, and of the American Legion, Midland Post. Donald is survived by his wife, five daughters; Linda (James) Maze, Elyce Rexer, Amy (Patrick) Weiler all of Essexville, Kathleen (Steve Brechler) Carson, of Phoenix AZ, and Mary Jo (Jeff) Strohman of Hubert NC, two sons; Craig (Dianne) Carson and Thomas (Deb Bowen) Carson both of Bay City, a step daughter, Rosalyn (Edward) Thayer of Alger, five stepsons; Floyd (Debbie) Novak, Guy (Robin) Novak both of Kalkaska, Frank(Carolyn) Novak of Midland, Mark Novak of California, and Brian (Michelle) Novak of Bay City, 14 grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 9 step great grandchildren, three sisters; Cleo (John) Wolicki of Essexville, Jeanette (Al) Lutes and Jean Carson both of Tawas City. He was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Karen Carson, son in law, Ray Rexer, and by two brothers, Clifford and Billy. There will be a Memorial Service on Wednesday, January 3, at 11:00 am, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Harrisville. Rev. Peter Eke and Rev. Lawrence Boks will officiate. Memorials suggested to Hospice of Michigan, Northeastern unit. Arrangements made by Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
