Richard A. Gamelin

Richard A. Gamelin passed away December 26, 2006 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. Born in 1932, and raised in Alpena, Michigan. Dick graduated from MSU in 1954, and married his dear wife Carol in 1955. He served the army for two years, returning home from Germany with twins, Jeff and Janet, and Jim following nine months later. The family settled in the Downriver Detroit area where Dick began his 32 year career as a Financial Analyst at the Ford Motor Company. Twins Bill and Bob joined the family in 1964. In 1988, Dick and Carol returned to the Alpena area and settled at Hubbard Lake. There he enjoyed visits from his children and their spouses, and his 16 grandchildren. He also loved spending time with their many friends. Dick will be remembered as a lifelong Spartan fan, an avid fisherman, and a world traveler with his wife, Carol. He was preceded in death by his brother, E. Ray Gamelin. Dick is survived by his dear wife, Carol; sister, Marilyn Milostan of Alpena; sons, Jeffrey of Naperville, IL; James of Cleveland, OH; Robert (Deborah) of Troy, MI; William (Deborah) of Elk Rapids, MI; daughter, Janet Shantz (Steven) of Comstock Park, MI; grandchildren, Lauren, Meghan, Kat, Nate, Jared, Jordan, Ben, Alex, Leesha, Leslie, Mary, Drake, Libby, Jessica, Shane, and Rebecca. Mr. Gamelin is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Friday, from 2 until 4 and from 6 until 8 pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, at 11am, at New Life Lutheran Church, in Spruce. Memorials suggested to New Life Lutheran Church, Alpena Regional Medical Center, or to the charity of the donor’s choice. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Richard A.
