Frank Fernandez, Dr. Edu., 77 of Spruce, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006 in Midland. Born November 18, 1929 to Frank and Allie (Toney) Fernandez, in Newark, New Jersey, he was raised in Stephenson, West Virginia. A 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S.Army, he served in the Korean War. On September 22, 1956 he married Aileen Campbell in Mullens, WV, they resided in Milford until moving to Spruce in 1988. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2003. Frank received his doctorate in Education and was employed as a school teacher in the Walled Lake School District. He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Ann (Steve) Applebee of Commerce Twp.; two sons Joel Frank Fernandez of Breckenridge and Rev. Mark Jon (Julie) Fernandez of Fowlerville; six grandchildren, Joel Jr., Ross, Brenton and Brandon Fernandez and Nicholas and Tony Applebee. Visitation will begin on Friday from 4 to 9 at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln Michigan. Funeral services will be Saturday, at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home, with Rev. Mark Jon Fernandez officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spruce.
