Richard L Smith

Richard L. Smith, 76, of Mikado, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at his home. Born Augist 31, 1934 to Oliver and Helen (Stevens) Smith in Perry, Michigan, he was raised there and in Waterford. On August 20, 1955, he married Betty Jo Reed in Waterford. Mr. Smith worked as a mechanic for VanHorn Concrete for 33 years, before retiring in 1995. In 2000 Dick and Betty Jo moved to Mikado. Dick was a “tinkerer” who enjoyed woodworking, welding, and making things. He was a man of all trades, and enjoyed the out of doors. He is survived by his wife Betty Jo, five children; Curtis (Mary) Smith, Linda (Dave) Pallister, Jeffery (Donna) Smith, Vanessa (Paul) Rosczewski, and Cherie (Carl) Wagner, 12 grandchildren, and two brothers; Dennis and Jim Smith. Cremation arrangements handled by Gillies Funeral Home of Lincoln. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
