Gary A. Wood, “Wild Woody” 60, of Spruce, passed away Monday, November 15, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Born October 28, 1950 to Holly and Geraldine (Denker) Wood in Flint, he was raised in Birch Run. Gary served in the United States Marine Corps. In 1974, he married Elizabeth Suderio. In 1976 he moved to Spruce, and continued to work at General Motors during the week, retiring in 1987. Gary owned and operated Wood’s Bait and Tackle on the East Bay of Hubbard Lake, as well as Wild Woody’s DJ and Karaoke. He had many friends on the CB Radio, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Gary is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, one sister; Glenda (Stephen) Kamischke, three brothers; Ted, Duane (Cindy) and Kevin (Linda) Wood, one sister-in-law; Carol Wood, and many nieces and nephews; Terry (Becky) Wood and children; Terry, Tyler, and Richard, Cheri Yager, and her children; Lee, Hunter, Garett, and Michael, Mellissa (Dennis) Smith, and children; Jacob, and Jocellyn, Aaron Wood, Jason (Kelly) Thomas, and daughter; Katelynn, Jessica Thomas and daughter; Kayla, Holly Wood, and son Iahisa, DJ, Joshua, Nicholas, Teddy, and Zach Wood, Steven Kamischke, Kathy, Chris, and Tiara. He was preceded in death by his brother; Terry Wood. Mr. Wood is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln where visitation will take place on Friday, November 19, from 3 until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the funeral home from 10 am until the funeral service at 11 am. Rev. Laraine Sundin will officiate. Interment will be private.
