John E. Gross

John Emil Gross, age 78 of Mikado passed away October 14, 2010 at the home of his son Dan Gross of Lincoln. John was born on April 1, 1932 in Owendale, Michigan to the late George J. and Elizabeth Gross. On July 28, 1949, John married Lois Lucille Hutchinson. John and Lois lived in the thumb area before settling in Birch Run. Once the children all left, they moved to Indian Lake in the Upper Peninsula where they owned and operated a resort. Mikado is where they retired to fish. Lois preceded him in death on April 15, 1993. John is survived by his children; Donald Lee (Dorene) Gross of Northport; Jack Allen (Ardele) Gross of Stuben, Diana Lynn London of Oscoda, Dan Ernest Gross and Sherry Joslin of Lincoln. Ten grandchildren, David, Donald Jr., Christina, Denny, Suzanne, Gregory, John, Elizabeth, John and Dan Jr.; four great grandchildren, Haley, Ariel, Abigail and Jacob; and his best friend and brother –in-law William Morrison of Saginaw, Michigan. John was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jack, George, and Frank. Private services have been held. Cremation arrangements were handled through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
