George (Bud ) Todd Welbon, Jr. of Lincoln MI, passed away peacefully at his home on October 12, 2010. Born to George and Ione Conroy Welbon on January 21, 1932 in Detroit MI, he graduated from Walled Lake High School in 1949 and Michigan State in 1954. Bud also served his country in the United States Army in Korea. Upon returning home, he worked for the DNR Parks Division for 30 years, managing five State parks Pinckney, Highland, Metamora-Hadley, Island Lake and Traverse City before retiring in 1984. A long time member of Lost Lake Woods Club, Bud served on the Board of Directors and was Assistant Chief and First Responder with the Alcona Township Fire Department where he was awarded life-time membership in December, 2000. He loved the out-of-doors and enjoyed many seasonal outings with Sue and his children. He was an avid hunter and hunted at his family’s cabin near Mio and at Lost Lake Woods. He was successful with bow and arrow, rifle and a muzzle-loader he crafted himself. Surviving are his wife of 53 years Sue (Sinclair); a son, Ross Todd Welbon (his devoted companion, Dee Kitson); daughters Cynthia Gerou (Harold) and Kathryn Collier (her devoted companion, Doug Kraus); seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Miller and two nephews. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11:00 am at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, MI with a memorial of his life at noon. A fellowship luncheon will follow at the Lost Lake Woods Club Clubhouse.
