Herb Johnson, 68, of Harrisville, died Tuesday, October17, 2006 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. Born on October 23, 1937 to Melvin Herbert and Erma L. (Bolan) Johnson in Decatur, Illinois, he was raised in the Royal Oak area. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, earning the rank of Eagle Scout in 1952. On June 14, 1958, he married Beverley Clark in Southfield. They resided in Royal Oak, and in Gainesville Florida, where Herb was the president and operator of a data processing and property management company. They moved to Harrisville in 1989. Herb was a member of the United Methodist Church in Harrisville, where he served as the finance chairman. He was a member of the Harrisville City Council, and of the Planning Commission. He served as the Alcona County Treasurer for three and a half years. Survivors include his wife, Beverley, a daughter Susan (David) Butler of Jacksonville, Florida, two sons, Paul Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida, and John (Jennifer) Johnson of Big Rapids, Michigan; six grandchildren, Melanie & Hope Johnson, Jessica & Kyle Hinshaw and Reid & Rion Johnson; a brother, Fredric (Mimi) Johnson of Pleasant Hill, California There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at United Methodist Church in Harrisville at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Edward Seward officiating. Donations suggested to United Methodist Church in Harrisville.
