Betty Lou Ranger, 83, of Barton City died Saturday June 26, 2010 at Jamieson Nursing Home. She was born July 16, 1926 in Moose Lake Minnesota to Knute and Pheba (Fetters) Thoen. She was raised in Moose Lake and Flint. On October 17, 1948 she married Theodore Gene Ranger in Moose Lake Minnesota, they then moved to Barton City. Betty was a teacher’s aide in the Alcona Community Elementary Schools from 1974 until 1984. She worked as a postal clerk at the Barton City Post Office and operated Jewell Wood Products of Barton City with her husband for several years. A supporting and loving mother, Betty, was known for her baking and skills as a seamstress. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Mikado, was a member and past secretary of the Burger Wiedbrauk V.F.W. Post 8135 Ladies Auxiliary of Barton City. Her husband preceded her in death on January11, 2005. Betty is survived by her 11 children, Kent(Gaye) Ranger of Oscoda, Michigan, Stephen (Tatsiana) Ranger of Wasilla Alaska, Timothy (Misti)Ranger of Anchorage, Alaska, Wade(Stephanie)Ranger of Anchorage, Alaska, Rebecca(Roger) Crelley, of Anchorage, Alaska, Kristine Ranger of Dewitt, Michigan, Jayne (Alan) Deissinger of Sandia Park, New Mexico, Carole Ranger of Pinckney, Michigan, Tamrya Ranger of Lincoln, Michigan, James Ranger of Kenai, Alaska and Andrea (Doug) Hatt of Manchester, Michigan; her 15 grandchildren and her sister, Marybelle Varner of Swartz Creek Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Sanborn on November 3, 2008. Cremation services were handled through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, July 15 from 4- 8 P.M. at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln and also on Friday, July 16 from 1 P.M. until the memorial service at 2 P.M.at the Calvary Baptist Church, Mikado.Rev. Dave Dudenhofer will officiate. Memorials suggested to the Calvary Baptist Church or the Burger Wiedbrauk V.F.W. Post #8135 of Barton City.
