Arthur A. Katona, 84, of Glennie passed away Monday, October 2, 2006 at his home. He was born on October 2, 1922 to Fred and Marie (Samyn) Katona in Glennie. On September 14, 1946, he married Pauline Stone at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Harrisville. A lifelong resident of Glennie, he owned and operated a farm. He was a member of the Millen Township Farm Bureau, and served as a board member of the West Branch Feeder Sales. Art was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Harrisville, and was a former member of the church council. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Alcona Council #4235, and the Third Degree. A long time member of the school board, he served as a past president, and was a member of the Michigan Association of School Boards. He is survived by his wife, Pauline, one daughter; Ruth (Kim) Kolbe of Clare, two sons; Thomas of Harrisville, and John (Michelle) of Glennie, four grandchildren; Sara Wallet, Jessica Chesney, Kris Kolbe, and Kyle Kolbe, and one sister Emily Bejesky of Harrisville. He was preceded in death by a sister; Mary Siebert Moore, and by a brother; Walter. Mr. Katona is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Wednesday from 4 until 9 pm, with a Rosary service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday at 11:00 AM, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Harrisville. Rev. Lawrence Boks will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery, Harrisville.
